Privacy Policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Doctorpeteramerman.com (“the Site,” “we,” “our,” or “Dr. Peter Amerman”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use this website. The Site is operated as a personal ministry resource. We are committed to protecting your privacy and will never sell, trade, or misuse your personal information.

Information We Collect

We only collect information you voluntarily provide:

  • Prayer Request Form — Name, phone number, email address, and your prayer request.
  • Contact Form — Name, email address, and your message.
  • BoppyBot Chat — The questions and messages you type into the BoppyBot chat interface. We do not require you to log in or identify yourself to use BoppyBot.

We do not use cookies for tracking, run analytics, or collect any information automatically as you browse the Site.

How We Use Your Information

The information you submit is used solely for the purpose for which it was provided:

  • Prayer requests are received by Dr. Amerman personally so that he may pray for you. Your request will not be shared with others without your consent.
  • Contact form messages are used to respond to your question or comment.
  • BoppyBot chat messages are used to generate an in-context response from the AI assistant (see “BoppyBot AI Chatbot” below for details). They are not stored by us beyond the duration of your browser session, and are not used to train AI models.

Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information with any third parties for marketing or commercial purposes. We do, however, rely on a small number of third-party services to operate the Site (described in “Third-Party Services” below). Your information will not be disclosed to outside parties except as required by law or as necessary to provide the features you use.

BoppyBot AI Chatbot

BoppyBot is an AI assistant trained on Dr. Amerman’s public sermons and teachings. When you send a question to BoppyBot, the following happens:

  • Your question is sent to OpenAI to generate an embedding (a numeric representation of the question’s meaning) so we can find relevant excerpts from Dr. Amerman’s sermon archive.
  • Relevant sermon excerpts are looked up from a database hosted on Supabase. This database stores Dr. Amerman’s sermon content only and does not contain any user-submitted information.
  • Your question, recent conversation context from the same chat session, and the matching sermon excerpts are sent to Anthropic (Claude) to generate the response.
  • The response is streamed back to your browser. Your conversation history is kept in your browser’s memory only and is cleared when you close the tab. We do not save your chat history on our servers.

OpenAI and Anthropic each have their own data-handling policies for the API requests they receive. Their public terms state they do not use API requests to train their models by default. For details, see OpenAI’s Privacy Policy and Anthropic’s Privacy Policy.

If BoppyBot determines it cannot answer your question, it may show an in-chat contact form. If you choose to send a message through that form, it is treated the same way as a regular contact form submission.

Third-Party Services

To operate the Site, we use the following third-party services:

  • Netlify — hosts the Site and runs the small backend functions that handle form submissions and the BoppyBot chat. See Netlify’s Privacy Policy.
  • Supabase — provides the database that stores Dr. Amerman’s sermon content for BoppyBot. No user-submitted information is stored here. See Supabase’s Privacy Policy.
  • OpenAI — processes BoppyBot question embeddings. See OpenAI’s Privacy Policy.
  • Anthropic — generates BoppyBot’s text responses. See Anthropic’s Privacy Policy.
  • Google Fonts — serves the typography used on the Site. Your browser may make a request to Google’s servers to retrieve font files. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • jsDelivr (CDN) — loads a small PDF-generation library when you click “Download as PDF” on a BoppyBot lesson. See jsDelivr’s Terms.
  • YouTube — embeds Dr. Amerman’s lesson videos (when present). When you play an embedded video, YouTube/Google may set cookies. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

Embedded Content

Some pages of the Site include embedded content such as PDF slide decks (hosted on the Site) and YouTube videos. Embedded videos behave as if you visited the source site directly — meaning YouTube/Google may set cookies and collect data about your interaction with the embedded player. PDF slide decks are served from the Site itself and do not collect any data about you when viewed.

Cookies and Tracking

The Site does not set cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics. We do not use any analytics platform (such as Google Analytics) on this Site. The only cookies you may encounter are those set by embedded third-party content (such as YouTube videos, if and when you choose to play them).

Data Retention

We retain the information you submit only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was provided (for example, to respond to your message or pray over your request). BoppyBot chat messages are not retained on our servers beyond the duration of your browser session. You may request deletion of any information you have submitted at any time by reaching out through the Contact page.

Children’s Privacy

This Site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Your Rights

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information you have submitted. To exercise any of these rights, please reach out through the Contact page.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
